Joan Heath
Have been sent some very interesting memorabilia from Michael Heath about his aunt Joan Heath who worked as a dancer in the 1930s and 40s and did several seasons with the Fols in Hastings and Scarborough among other places.
You will see from the programme that it was a smaller show in those days and the caricature of the company is lovely.

Dear Friends and ex-"Fols"
Firstly I must apologise for this very long overdue News Letter. 2014 was a really busy year for me and I travelled around the world, twice i think, both for work and pleasure.
Last year was very sad for our Fols friends as we lost 4 lovely men and I am personally very sad about this.
Darling Peter Felgate died in February 2014 at the wonderful age of 94. Im so pleased that I had had much contact with him over the past 5 or 6 years.
Floral Hall
The Floral Hall at Scarborough is where the Fols performed first in 1911 and then at various periods including the 1950's. Keep reading »
The Theatre Royal
The Theatre Royal finally closed on Saturday 15th December 1956 with a performance of the Fol de Rols featuring a young Leslie Crowther.

A Brief history
In 1911 Mr. George Royle had a Pierrot Show on the sands at Scarborough. Pierrot Shows were a regular feature of Edwardian entertainment.
